The anger I feel toward my father still lingers. But what hurts me even more deeply is the rejection I faced from my family because I carry the ancestral spirit of my forefathers. This spirit, which I had inherited, became a source of conflict when my aunt’s sons tried to take it from me. Their failure left me teetering on the edge of madness.

In 1991, feeling lost and without support, I left my home, wife, and children. For 16 years, I wandered, hoping to find help for my illness, hoping that somewhere along the way, I could find peace. But in 2007, when I returned home, I was met with devastating news. My father had passed away, and both his homestead and mine were in ruins. My wife and children had abandoned me.

Desperate for reconnection, I turned to my relatives for help and reconciliation, but they turned me away. As Christians, they regarded me, with my ancestral spirit, as someone possessed by evil forces. The pain of this rejection pierced my soul, especially since I, too, am a Christian. It was a bitter blow to feel outcast from both sides—my spiritual heritage and my faith.

Yet, despite these hardships, I have found solace. Through odd jobs and small tasks, I’ve managed to make ends meet. Most importantly, I’ve reunited with my children, who now accept me for who I am, embracing both me and my spiritual journey. Their acceptance has been a source of strength and hope for me.

I am filled with gratitude. My life is still a work in progress, but sharing my story has brought me relief. I thank ECLF for motivating me to face my fears and challenges. It is because of your support that I’ve found the courage to speak my truth and heal. May God bless you all for giving me a platform to share my experiences.
